Senior Staff Accountant

Salary Range: $75k-90k

Job Description:

What You Will Accomplish

Ensures accuracy of financial data gathered and recorded. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, internal controls and applicable laws. Determines internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation. Recruits and hires accounting and financial team members and conducts performance evaluations. Coordinates training programs for new team members and identifies training needs. This role has a combined expectation to be very hands on in the day-to-day whilst being having strategic, holistic approach in planning and forward moving action. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Prepares and coordinates monthly tax payments and reports with taxation Liaises with taxation department regarding all tax related matters with assistance of the Corporate Director of Finance.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities, and initiates policies and procedures for those
  • Ensures all hotel licenses/permits are renewed on a timely basis and tracks expiration dates and notifies management of
  • Prepares and posts journal Reviews and responds to chargeback inquiries.
  • Calculates and submits incentives using data provided, i.e. incentive worksheets, and incentive plans, etc.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliation/analyses of all Balance Sheet accounts and other expenses, where necessary and when needed.
  • Assists in the preparation and distribution of reports generated by the department, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports; Reviews revenue reports produced by all departments.
  • Manages hotel's accounts Processes credit applications, conducts credit checks, invoices and directs collection efforts. Verifies and balances credit card merchant statements.
  • Audits internal financial controls to ensure compliance with SOPs to include purchasing, cash handling, receipts, disbursements, payroll and team member
  • Resolves customer complaints and anticipates potential problems by reviewing and monitoring complaints, operational issues, business flow and team member performance to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and Notifies leadership and/or security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's in Financial, Accounting, and/or related disciplines
  • A minimum of (5) five years of progressive accounting experience within hospitality
  • A minimum of (2) years of management experience with direct reports
  • Excellent management skill
  • Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Has the ability to mentor, train, and lead a team respectfully
  • MS Office Suite i.e. advanced skill within MS Excel is a must.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization
  • Capability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental
  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure
  • Proven success in presenting critical information and responding to questions from groups of managers, team members, guests and the general
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Work schedules will include working on holidays, weekends and alternate shifts.

  • Preferred proficiency in Great Plains, Profit Sag, UniFocus, Fosse, OnQ, HMS, Silverware, and Michaels
