Job Summary

Overview:

As a Bell/Valet at Ko'a Kea Hotel and Resort you are in constant communication with the Front Desk staff to ensure guests are escorted and their luggage and personal items are transported to and from the guest rooms efficiently.  It is important to ensure that guests are comfortable with their accommodation and are familiar with room offerings and features.  This highly visible role gives opportunities for casual conversation and hotel or local recommendations.  Responsibilities include assisting the passengers during the loading and unloading process, and safely and efficiently relocating the guest automobile to designated parking locations.  This role requires precise communication and coordination with the Front Desk. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain warm, hospitable guest relations in all guest contact.
  • Responding to individual guest needs as they occur.
  • Greet customers and issue valet tickets for vehicles.
  • Park guest vehicles.
  • File and secure valet keys.
  • Escort incoming guests to rooms.
  • Assist guests with luggage.
  • Explain features of room such as operation of radio, telephone, television, in-room movie system, etc.
  • Offer information pertaining to available hotel services, points of interest, and entertainment attractions.
  • Deliver messages, faxes and run errands.
  • Keep record of calls for service.
  • Deliver packages, suitcases, and trunks.
  • Issue claim checks, store and retrieve guest luggage and items.
  • Keep the storage room neat and clean.
  • Polish, clean and maintain equipment and vehicles.
  • Report all items in need of repair to supervisor and maintain equipment used in work.
  • Protect guest safety and well-being; be courteous to all guests and co-workers.
  • Adjusts to high pressure conditions and is open to change.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development.
  • Always conducts him/herself (acts and dresses) professionally; sets standards for all.
  • Expresses ideas and conveys information clearly, effectively, and professionally.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
  • Good mathematical and computer skills.
  • Ability to actively listen to others.
  • Ability to lift and pull a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Ability to tolerate moderate amounts of walking.
  • Driver's license and ability to maintain a clean driving abstract for a minimum of three years.
  • Ability to operate automatic and manual vehicles.

Physical Requirements:

  • Minimum lifting of 20 pounds.
  • Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, manual dexterity.
  • Hearing, writing.
  • Minimum pulling of 20 pounds.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
