Job Summary

The Ko'a Kea Hotel and Resort is seeking an individual with a strong commitment to outstanding service and a keen sense of detail to join our team as an AM Server.

Overview:

The In Room Dining Servers create an experience for our hotel guests by offering them a larger than home experience with welcoming, helpful, and exceptional service, while maintaining a clean, comfortable, and inviting environment.  Our In Room Dining Servers demonstrate the attributes of a great Host by being aware and attentive to our guests' needs; in addition, they create conversations and share a moment thereby making a real connection with our guests.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain warm, hospitable guest relations in all guest contact.
  • Responding to individual guest needs as they occur.
  • Greet all guests in a warm and enthusiastic manner.
  • Answer questions and make suggestions regarding menu item selections, preparations of items, and beverages.
  • Communicate menu selections to the culinary and beverage teams.
  • Monitor guests to fulfill any additional requests and determine when the meal experience is at an end and the guests are ready for their trays to be picked up.
  • Compute bills, collect payment, and make change for guests as needed.
  • Responds to all guest requests and informs guests of hotel services, features, room amenities, shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Ask for and confirm any future dining reservations at our restaurant.
  • Respond to and resolve all guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Thoroughly completes projects and assignments professionally with care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Report all items in need of repair to supervisor and maintain equipment used in work.
  • Protect guest safety and well-being.
  • Adjusts to high pressure conditions and is open to change.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development.
  • Always conducts him/herself (acts and dresses) professionally; sets standards for all.
  • Expresses ideas and conveys information clearly, effectively, and professionally.
  • Works to resolve disagreements and is respectful of peers and co-workers.
  • Scrupulously follows all Ko'a Kea Hotel & Resort policies and procedures.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
  • Good mathematical and computer skills.
  • Ability to actively listen to others.
  • Ability to lift and pull a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Ability to tolerate moderate amounts of walking.
  • Driver's license and ability to maintain a clean driving abstract for a minimum of three years.
  • Ability to operate automatic and manual vehicles.

Physical Requirements:

  • Minimum lifting of 20 pounds.
  • Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, manual dexterity.
  • Hearing, writing.
  • Minimum pulling of 20 pounds.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

The Ko'a Kea Hotel and Resort is taking tip credit as authorized by state and federal law.  Under state and federal law, a tipped employee (defined as an employee who customarily and regularly receives at least $30.00 per month in tips) be paid a direct wage which is lower than the minimum wage, so long as certain requirements are followed.
